Build it Yourself Scope Stand Page
Component Listing
You need to know a few things about how our scope stands and thread systems work, in order to correctly choose the parts for the scope stand you have in mind.
All the rod sections employ our tapered thread system. This system replaces the straight thread system perviously used.
You cannot mate taper threaded rods to the straight threaded rods. Click here to view thread info. Our taper threaded system uses two kinds of rods; base or bottom rods and extension rods.
The extension rods have a male thread on one end and a female thread on the other and these rods will screw into any other taper threaded rod.
The bottom rods have a female taper thread on their top end and are unthreaded on the bottom end. There is a side hole in the rod for securing it in the A-Base. A setscrew in the base passes through this hole to bind against a delrin base plug which in turn pushes the tube against the opposite side of the tripod base.
The F-Base uses a different clamping system to hold the rod and it will hold any 1" diameter rod. A delrin plug binds the rod in the bore. The same system secures the link to the F-Base spindle.
BIY Checklist:Choose a Base:

A-Base
A traditional tripod with a base circle of 22-1/4".
The scope mounting face is 4-3/4" from the rod centerline.
The legs are 12" long.
With scope turned up the mounting screw is 2-5/32" from the rod centerline.F-Base
An asymetrical tripod with a base circle of 22-7/8".
The scope mounting face lies at the center of the base circle.
The legs are 15-7/8" long.
Both the link and scope head pivot for a wide range of adjustment.
Choose a Head:

With the Take-Off-Knob you can remove your scope and head from the stand fairly quickly. If you don't have a problem keeping the head on the scope then use this method and just order the head.
You can always add the QD at a later time if you find it a better solution to your shooting/transportation needs.![]()
If you wish to leave the head on the stand and quickly remove the scope, then order the head with the quick detach.
Choose a Rod Set:
Questions to ask yourself: 1. Will I use my setup while sitting in a chair or stool to score other shooters?
If yes, then you will want at least a total of 36" above ground.
2. Do I shoot offhand with the scope behind me?
If yes, then you will need at least the distance to your eye while standing.
3. Do I need my stand to break down to a smaller size for air travel or other transportion?
If yes, then do not specify the 48" one-piece rod.
4. I am not taller than 6'2".
If yes, to #2 and #4 is no then 48" total rod is sufficent with scopes having angled eye pieces.
Bottom Rod choices:
F-Base - Any Rod.A-Base - 8" Bottom, 20" Bottom, 24" Bottom, 30" Bottom or 48" Bottom (Classic).
Extension Rod Choices:
20" extension, 24" extension or 30" extension.
