Bully Barrel Compensator Maintenance

Rimfire compensators suffer from a build up of lead. If you don't clean it out it will clog the comp leading to a loss of accuracy and a posibly dangerous situation.

Before or after every event or firing session or every couple hundred rounds, loosen the locking set screw and remove the compensator from the barrel.
Visually inspect the inside of the comp for lead build up.
Soak the comp in bore solvent (Hoppes9, or your favorite) overnight.
Use a .45 brush to remove lead from the main chamber.
Use a .22 brush to remove lead from the ports.
Repeat the soak if necessary.

Do not use abrasives! The comps are anodized and this is a very hard surface, but it is easily removed by abrasives!
While the comp is off, you should clean the crown with solvent and a soft patch. (soak if necessary)

When re-installing the comp on the barrel, put some anti-seize or grease on the barrel threads and on the locking set screw.
Align the flats of the comp with the flats of the barrel and re-tighten the locking set screw.
If you need to use wrenches to get the comp into alignment, protect the comp and the barrel from tool marks using thin cardboard between the gun parts and the tools.
